Headaches are a common complaint heard from most individuals, and these ailments range from being a simple annoyance to excrucicating pain. Most over-the-counter medications offer only temporary relief, and prescription drugs can sometimes lead to serious side effects.

If you've ever seen someone wince in pain when they get migraine, the sufferer looks truly miserable, as he or she is a victim of the blinding pain, nausea and aversion to bright lights that most migraine sufferers experience. Such a painful event is rarely a one-time episode, and those suffering from this painful condition can have pain which last for several episodes a week, or for only a few in their lifetime. Migraines can be very unpredictable that way.

Has Modern medicine Found The Solution To Migraine Headaches?

Sufferers of frequent migraines know how debilitating the condition could be, and most find it difficult to keep a job that will tolerate numerous absences due to the severe headaches that most of the time leave them unable to function properly.

Modern medicine has recently provided enormous relief for sufferers of this condition, in the form of medications that can be taken once an attack has begun. Some prescription drugs act quickly to reduce or dissipate the headache by altering the muscle tone of the arteries in the brain which are the cause of this type of pain.

Migraines are one of a class of vascular headaches, which denotes that the ultimate source of the aching is from a change in the tone of the blood vessels inside the brain. The common effective treatments for this pain are not generally painkillers, and instead, they work on the blood vessels which secondarily relieves the pain.

Why Many Are Turning For Herbal treatments For This Condition

Today's standard treatment of vascular headaches involves the extended observation and documentation by a doctor or migraine expert. The sources of the aching and the proper treatment of them is a concern that modern medicine still hasn't made much progress in finding a long-term solution to. In light of modern medicine's lack of clear solutions, many people have turned to herbal and natural headache treatments.

Herbs That Alleviate Or Ease Migraines

- Ginkgo biloba

This herb is known to increase blood circulation. Use up to 240 mg, daily. Ginkgo biloba has been shown to offer some promise for the management of migraines in two small French clinical trials. The daily dose ranged from 120 to 240 mg. Use a standardized extract containing 24-percent ginkgoflavone glycosides and 6-percent terpene lactones.

- Feverfew

This herbal remedy holds promise in the prevention of migraines, and poses relatively few side effects, This herb carries the scientific name of Tanacetum parthenium, and is an herb which grows throughout Europe. As the name suggests, it was originally used for fever reduction, and primarily the dried leaves are used for medicinal purposes.

- Ginger

Ginger contains ingredients that are known to inhibit platelet aggregation. Ginger tea works, for a migraine headache in the front of the head. One case study published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology reported that a 42-year old female migraine sufferer found relief when taking 500 to 600 mg of ginger powder mixed with water every four hours for four days

- Jamaican dogwood (Piscidia erythrina): Recommended for migraines accompanied by insomnia or dysmenorrhea.

- Damiana, kola, sarsaparilla, ginseng. These herbs are recommended when the headache is due to fatigue, lassitude, and general debility.

- Black horehound (Ballota nigra): For nausea and vomiting. Works well when combined with meadowsweet and chamomile.

Psoriasis is a common skin condition that is characterized by patches of well-defined plaques covered by silvery scaling. These patches occur on the knees, elbows, trunk, scalp and hairline, but do not affect the face. The patches may show pinpoint bleeding spots when scratched. Skin may be generally dry and in severe cases the nails are pitted. Severe cases may be accompanied by a form of arthritis that affects the fingers, knees, ankles, and spine, but this is rare.

Attacks of psoriasis are normally triggered by mess, illness, and damage to the skin. It is not itchy, but it can be lery painful when cracks appear across the skin. Psoriasis can be very embarrassing for the sufferer because it is unsightly and still misunderstood. Psoriasis is never contagious and usually appears in the late teens and early twenties, although random cases occur in children and the elderly. It runs in families and recurs at intervals, usually throughout life.

There are four types of psoriasis: flexural, which covers the moist areas of the body; pustule psoriasis, which is characterized by small pustules, usually on the palms or soles; plaque psoriasis, which is the most common type, affecting most areas of the body and frequently the nails; and guttate psoriasis, which appears in children, usually following a throat infection.
